Price increase Monday January 14th

Our hourly rate for all customers will increase from $50.00 to $55.00 on Monday, January 14th.

We raised our hourly rate August 1st from $50 to $55 for new customers. Starting Monday, January 14th, this rate applies to all customers.

In our 11+ year history, we’ve only increased our price once; in 2013. A lot has changed since then and it’s become more and more difficult to hire and retain great employees. 

  • The starting wage for inexperienced cleaners is now $4/hour higher.

  • The starting wage for experienced cleaners is now $6/hour higher.

  • Our Head Cleaner / Assistant Manager is now a salaried position.

  • We provide and pay for online training for potential employees, in addition to their paid real-world training once they’re hired.

  • We now offer more PTO and it carries over to the next year.

  • Our gas allowance per driver is now up to $55 weekly.

  • We’ve increased paid travel time to cover more hours.

  • We have a 10-star weekly bonus. Cleaners receive $5-$7 for each 10-star feedback form received (up to $105 per cleaner weekly). This helps us know where improvements and additional training are needed. It also lets cleaners know which customers are happiest.

  • We now give an annual bonus to cleaners, up to $1000, as incentive to stay with the company longer.

  • …and so much more

We still charge less, while offering more to our customers, than most of our competitors. 

Automatic billing will be updated to reflect the $5 hourly increase.

We have an all new estimate form.

Our new estimate form, which took six months to improve upon and develop, was launched January 7th. This new form has many more options that we weren’t accounting for previously. Areas like dining nooks, home gyms, second kitchens, number of staircases, number of glass shower doors, etc., are all now accounted for and considered in the estimate algorithm.

We encourage you to get an updated estimate. We don’t necessarily need to change anything about how we clean your home, but it will at least give you a realistic idea of what we’d be scheduling and charging if you were brand new to SGC.

Get $300 in free cleaning!

Since you know our standards and you know the kind of people you want cleaning your home, please help us find cleaners. If we hire someone you recommend, we’ll give you $300 in free cleaning. 

We have been desperately trying to hire more cleaners since early November. During what’s usually our busiest season of the year, we’ve been so short staffed that we’re routinely canceling 5-15 appointments weekly. Conversations with our competitors revealed an industry-wide employment crisis. We’re glad it’s not a problem unique to us, but it’s been draining, to say the least. A few years ago, when we posted a job ad, we’d get 200 applicants. Now we’re lucky to get 5 applicants. 

Helping us find great candidates means $300 to you!

The Alaskan Way Viaduct is closing for 3 weeks starting this Friday night. Since we are based in West Seattle, we are preparing for extra heavy traffic and longer work days for our employees. We expect this to be mostly problematic for our Queen Anne, Interbay, Magnolia, Fremont, and Ballard customers. We will be in touch with those customers about possible alternatives. 

We were nominated and became a finalist for the 2018 Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics. Though we didn’t get it, we were honored to be among only six other finalists in Washington. We were the smallest company nominated – and considering Amazon was the biggest, we considered it a feather in our cap.

In 2018 we earned the Angie’s List Super Service Award for 2017. We were so honored to earn this award for the 5th time! We are eternally grateful to our Angie’s List customers who have been so good to us over the years.

May 28th will be Scott’s 4 year anniversary with SGC!

Scott, our Head Cleaner, was promoted to Assistant Manager in the Fall. As soon as we are fully staffed again, he will split his time between office days, training new employee days, and cleaning days.
